User Monitor

The user monitor displays shell notifications as a result of user events. It generates notifications whenever a system alert takes place, a system sound is played, a (popup) menu is entered or exited, a window is activated, moved, resized or minimized, a drag and drop or scroll operations takes place or the user switches application by pressing ALT+TAB.


Starting the user monitor

To start the user monitor, make sure that User is enabled in the panel of activated monitors on the left of the screen. Then click the Start button.


Stopping the user monitor

To stop the user monitor, click the Stop button.


Information in the user monitor view

Date/Time
This column displays the moment of each action that was registered by the monitor. The time stamp is a value with a precision of 100 nanoseconds. If multiple actions took place within a single time interval of 100 nanoseconds, the time stamp value will be incremented to guarantee a unique time stamp.

Action
This columns displays the name of the action that was registered. For the user monitor possible events are 'System Sound, System Alert, Active Window Change, Menu Enter, Menu Exit, Popup Menu, Popup Menu Exit, Window Capture Start, Window Capture End, Move/Size Window Start, Move/Size End, Context Help Start, Context Help End, Drag Drop Start, Drag Drop End, Dialog Start, Dialog End, Scroll start, Scroll end, Switch App, Switch App End, Minimize, Minimize End.

Process
This displays the name of the active executable process at the moment the event occurred.

Position This column display the screen coordinates of the mouse cursor.

Window Title
Identifies the window title that was active when the event occurred.

HWND
Identifies the window handle that was active when the event occurred.

PID
This represents the process ID of the executable.

ThreadID
Displays the value of the thread ID.
